Ron H. Boehm
Born on Valentines Day Feb. 14, 1943 in New Orleans, La. 3rd of nine children to Lloyd and Margret Boehm. I went to Catholic grammar and high school, then received a BS Degree from Southeastern Louisiana University in 1966. Joined the Marine Corps in 1967 and went to OCS, The Basic School then I was selected to be in the first Marines to go to Air Force Flight School instead on Naval Flight School. I married my wife Eileen around that time.
After completing Flight School, I received orders to Cherry Point Marine Corps Air Station in North Carolina for A-6A training. After completing that training, I received orders to Vietnam. My daughter Laura was born 8 days before I was scheduled to leave for Vietnam. In Vietnam I was assigned to A-6 squadron VMA (AW) 242. After about 3 months I received orders to Marine Infantry Battalion 1/7 as the Forward Air Control Officer.
I received the Combat Action Ribbon for my experience there. After 3 months my time was up and returned to my squadron. We flew both day and night and the night missions were mostly in Laos bombing troops and supplies along the Ho Che Min Train coming out of North Vietnam. I received a Single Mission Air Metal for one of my missions there. I flew 124 combat missions and was assigned to be one pilot of 3 air crews to fly across the Pacific Ocean from Danang to Norfolk, VA to deliver these planes to the Naval Air Rework Facility ahead of my squadron return a month later. The squadron returned to El Toro Marine Corp Air Station of California.
I left the Marine Corps in 1974 had several jobs before starting my own Metal Building Construction company – Aerohaus Metal Buildings which I still run.
